Introduction of MLATrack Portal
A new online platform, MLATrack.com, has been introduced to give detailed insights into the work of Members of the Kerala Legislative Assembly. Developed by Atyeti Research with Sahya Digital Conservation Foundation, this portal covers activities from 2021 to 2026 to improve transparency and involve citizens in the legislative process.
Features of the MLATrack System
The website provides comprehensive profiles for all 140 MLAs, including personal details, constituency maps, and visual data on their attendance, questions asked, and interventions made. It records daily legislative activities like submissions, questions, and motions. Users can see questions asked by MLAs with direct links to official responses, making it a useful tool to track legislative work.
Data Sources and Ease of Use
The portal uses publicly available data from the Kerala Legislative Assembly website and the Asset Development Scheme portal. It is designed to be user-friendly for citizens, researchers, and media professionals seeking to understand legislative activities without bias or subjective rankings.
Insights from Legislative Data
The database shows that between 2021 and 2026, over 68,000 questions were raised in 16 Assembly sessions, both starred and unstarred. Many MLAs asked more than 1,000 questions, and 45 members had attendance rates above 95%. Several legislators participated in over 100 debates, and some introduced private member bills and resolutions—showing active participation in lawmaking.
