Gujarat Launches New AI Platform for Dairy Farmers
Gujarat has introduced a new artificial intelligence platform called 'Amul AI' to support dairy farmers. The move aims to modernize the dairy sector and help farmers improve their practices using technology.
On February 11, 2026, Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched a new artificial intelligence platform called 'Amul AI' in Anand. The goal of this project is to help dairy farmers and improve the dairy industry in the state. This initiative is part of a larger effort to use technology to modernize agriculture and animal husbandry.
The new platform is designed to provide personalized guidance to over 36 lakh milk producers across more than 18,500 villages in Gujarat. It aims to help farmers with advice on cattle health, feeding practices, breeding, vaccination schedules, and information about government schemes and subsidies. This will make it easier for farmers to get reliable and timely information to improve their dairy practices.
Farmers can access 'Sarlaben', the AI assistant, in two ways. They can use the Amul Farmer mobile app, which has been downloaded over 10 lakh times. For farmers without smartphones or internet access, they can also get guidance through voice calls in Gujarati. This ensures that all farmers, regardless of their technology access, can benefit from the new system.
The platform has integrated data from many sources. It includes over 200 crore milk procurement transactions, veterinary treatments for nearly 3 crore cattle, and fodder production data analyzed from ISRO satellite images. This vast amount of data helps 'Sarlaben' give accurate and useful advice to farmers based on their specific needs and local conditions.
Gujarat's Chief Minister highlighted that 'Amul AI' aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of using technology to modernize India's agriculture and dairy sectors. The goal is to make India a leading global hub for dairy products. By using artificial intelligence, the state aims to improve productivity and efficiency in the dairy industry.
The initiative also aims to empower women milk producers. It provides them with direct access to trustworthy information, which can help enhance their decision-making abilities and improve their livelihoods.
The launch event was attended by several notable leaders, including Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary and Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani. Their presence signified the importance of this new technology and its potential impact on the state's dairy sector.
'Amul AI' is considered a major breakthrough. It allows farmers to check milk fat, solids-not-fat (SNF), and daily accounts using their mobile phones. It is also integrated with existing systems like Amul’s Automatic Milk Collection System and the Pashudhan app. These connections ensure that farmers receive real-time and historical data-based recommendations for better dairy management.
This technology-driven effort aims to make the dairy and agricultural sectors more self-reliant and advanced. It supports the government's push for a modern, innovative approach to farming and animal husbandry.
Overall, the launch of 'Amul AI' marks a significant step forward in incorporating artificial intelligence into India’s cooperative dairy framework. It sets an example for other sectors to follow, showing how technology can help improve rural livelihoods, increase productivity, and advance India’s position as a leader in dairy production.
